Dressage Under the Stars Celebrity
Judging Panel- Country singer, Jenna
Wyatt, Betsy Steiner, Tami Hoag,
Michael and Manuela Klimke share in
the fun!
(JR photo) |
Wellington, FL- Judge, Michael Klimke came all
the way from Germany to help judge the second
Dressage Under The Stars Grand Prix competition
held at the Players Club restaurant in
Wellington, Florida and winning Grand Prix
rider, Rick Silvia is glad he did! Judging along
side Klimke, was Betsy Steiner and best selling
author and grand prix rider, Tami Hoag. The trio
gave Silvia’s steamy grand prix musical
freestyle a whooping 88% and the crowd went
wild.
Dressage under the Stars is an
exhibition/competition hosted at the Players
Club restaurant and sponsored by Snow Queen
Vodka. Diners at the restaurant are treated to a
rowdy musical freestyle competition in the polo
field adjacent to the dining room and outdoor
patio bar. The rules and regulations for the
competition are a bit loose and the end result
is riders and spectators (lot’s of them) having
fun. The ring is regulation size and the horses
are required to perform at the Grand Prix level,
but the rest of the event is an anything goes
gala. The stakes are also high! Winners from
five Friday night competitions will compete in
the Dressage Under the Stars Finale for a
$10,000 purse! High stakes and high spirits are
not often associated with the sport, but the
organizers at the Players Club are putting a
twist on dressage that spectators applaud.
Elizabeth Niemi also placed in last week’s
competition riding Christina Baker’s impressive
gelding, Florencio V. Niemi was not disappointed
that she didn’t win since she was not actually
competing. “I was doing a demonstration
exhibition on Florencio,” explained Niemi, “But
Michael Klimke was having too much fun and said
in Germany everyone gets a score,” added Niemi
with a laugh. Niemi should also be flattered as
both Klimke and Steiner also tried to the buy
Florencio at the end of Niemi’s ride!
Week one winner, Shannon Dueck will return with
Silvia and three other winners to ride for the
$10,000 grand prize in late April. Meanwhile the
big winner in this competition may actually be
the sport of dressage…which is getting a
reputation as fun and entertaining thanks to the
Dressage Under the Stars series. For more
information or dinner reservations for up coming
Dressage Under the Stars competitions, call the

Steffen
Peters Rides Dream Street Stallion, Fantasma, in
The 2008 Challenge of the Americas
Wellington, FL- Olympic
Team Bronze Medalist, Steffen Peters rode
Deborah Howe's grand prix stallion, Fantasma in
the Opening Ceremonies of the 2008 Challenge of
the Americas on March 8th, at the Palm Beach
International Equestrian Center in Wellington,
FL. Peters was a originally scheduled to ride
Elizabeth Niemi’s grand prix mount, Wholio, an
11-year-old Hanoverian gelding owned by Stan and
Vivian Pichney. When Wholio sustained a minor
stone bruise just days before the event, Rick
Silvia of Dream Street Stallions and Deborah
Howe quickly offered Fantasma as a replacement
mount for Peters. Peters rode Fantasma in a
beautifully executed “Salute to America”
freestyle performance to kick off the evening.
The Challenge of America fundraiser showcases
international Grand Prix equestrians in jumping
and musical dressage quadrilles for the benefit
the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
“We were glad to be able to loan Steffen
Fantasma for the event,” said Rick Silvia of
Dream Street Stallions. Silvia is well known for
his commitment to the promotion of sport horses.
Two years ago, Silvia formed Dream Street
Stallions with the goal of offering some of the
world’s best sport horse bloodlines in America.
Since the inception of Dream Street Stallions,
Silvia has committed a great deal of his time
and resources to promoting the sport. “I wanted
to do more than just ride,” said Silvia, “I
wanted to bring top breeding stallions to
America and make them available to mare owners
here. At the same time, I am as committed to
promoting the sport of dressage, as I am to
promoting the sport horses themselves,” added
Silvia.
In the past two years, Dream Street Stallions
have participated in a number of exhibitions,
symposiums and shows throughout the U.S. In
2007, Dream Street Stallion, Starlight, was
named the USDF Breeding Stallion of the Year and
was inducted into the USDF Hall of Fame for
earning the highest median score ever given in
the USDF Dressage Sport Horse Breeding division.
“It has been an incredible journey building this
dream,” said Silvia, “And there is no doubt
watching Steffen’s performance on Fantasma at
the Challenge was one of the highlights.” For

Stallions visit them online at

Wellington, FL-
Dream Street
Stallion, Starlight, swept the top honors for a
breeding stallion at the United States Dressage
Federation’s annual awards banquet hosted in
Orlando, Florida last week. Starlight was
awarded the USDF All-Breeds Dressage Sport Horse
Breeding 'Horse Of The Year'. The
7-year-old black Oldenburg stallion is owned and
shown by Rick Silvia of Dream Street Stallions.
Silvia was also informed that Starlight’s score
was the highest median score ever recorded.
Silvia was awarded both a perpetual trophy and a
beautiful bronze statue for the win. Both
prizes will be kept on display in the USDF Hall
of Fame in Kentucky, along with a photo of
Starlight in honor of his accomplishments.
The Horse of the
Year honor was one of many prestigious honors
that Starlight and Silvia took home form the
awards ceremony. Starlight also won the USDF
All-Breeds Mature Stallion 'Horse Of The Year',
the German Oldenburg Verband Mature Stallion
'Horse of the Year' and the German Oldenburg
Verband Dressage Sport Horse Breeding 'Horse of
the Year' Honors. And the stunning stallion
proved he is also a capable performance horse by
winning res. Champion in the Open Prix St.
Georges for the German Oldenburg Verband.
Silvia stepped
off the stage with his arms full with two
Championship coolers, a gift certificate from
Dressage Extensions, two gold medals, two
picture frames with USDF honors on them, a
saddle pad, two plaques, and replica of the
bronze that will be displayed in the USDF Hall
of Fame. For Silvia it was truly the culmination
of a dream. Three years ago Silvia formed his
“Dream Street Stallions” to offer some of the
most sought after European dressage bloodlines
in the United States. He imported a few
exceptional stallions, including Starlight who
offers a unique combination of two highly sought
after European lines, Sandro Hit, Corduer and
Argentinus. Silvia stands the stallions at his
Dream Street Stallions farm in Wellington,
Florida, shows them on the East Coast dressage
circuit and actively promotes them at
expositions and symposiums. The 2007 USDF annual
awards ceremony validated without a doubt that
Silvia’s “dream” is on track.
“I am proud of
Starlight’s accomplishments”, said Silvia, “I am
especially happy for the mare owners who are
expecting Starlight foals this Spring and those
who have mares booked to him this coming
season”. Silvia will continue training and
competing Starlight with their sights set on the
Grand Prix in the 2008 season.
